He’s high up in the air coping with wind, rain, and baking sun. Then he looks down and sees you two little engines being annoying! No wonder he calls you bugs! Contents [ show ] Bio Cranky bullied Thomas and Percy by delaying their loads and calling them “bugs”. He later got his comeuppance after a tramp steamer crashed into him and he had to be rescued by the two tank engines. Afterwards, he promised never to insult them again. However, he still teases the engines occasionally, such as when Percy complained that there was too much work and when Henry arrived at the Docks in a barge full of fish. Although he is naturally grumpy, Cranky has shown that he has a kind side too. He once helped Thomas out of trouble when he and Percy were playing “Hide and Peep” by finding Percy in the dry dock.

Origins[ edit ] Cooper Hewitt lamp, Charles Wheatstone observed the spectrum of an electric discharge in mercury vapor in , and noted the ultraviolet lines in that spectrum. In , John Thomas Way used arc lamps operated in a mixture of air and mercury vapor at atmospheric pressure for lighting. Keating of England patented a mercury vapour lamp, considered by some to be the first true mercury vapour lamp. Patent , on September 17, The Hewitt lamps used a large amount of mercury.

In the s, improved lamps of the modern form, developed by the Osram-GEC company , General Electric company and others led to widespread use of mercury vapor lamps for general lighting. It needs to be vaporized and ionized before the lamp can produce its full light output. To facilitate starting of the lamp, a third electrode is mounted near one of the main electrodes and connected through a resistor to the other main electrode. In addition to the mercury, the tube is filled with argon gas at low pressure.

When power is applied, there is sufficient voltage to ionize the argon and strike a small arc between the starting electrode and the adjacent main electrode.

After reading all of my favorite Audi forums, I found a host of information, some of it helpful, some of it conflicting, and some if it misguided. The steps listed here will probably also work for other Audis as well, although may differ somewhat. What to Check First There are several things that most commonly cause this error after reading dozens of owners messages on Audizine, Fourtitude, Audiforums and other message boards. Using a VAG-com cable will also help you pull the exact error code which should also help you narrow it down to an issue with the bulbs, ballasts, sensors or headlight alignment problems.

Follow this DIY for tips on picking the right bulbs and how to install them: Rumor has it some ballasts have been recalled by Audi, in which case you can check with your dealer to see if your car qualifies for the recall, in which case the service and replacement should be free — problem solved! For cars equipped with auto-levelling sensors, the sensors themselves are located in the wheel wheels near the lower control arms so they can adjust the headlight aiming based on the suspension load.

For some people when they lower their car, the sensor is out of range as the suspension has been altered. For others, a hard bump to the front wheel could potentially break the sensor or cause it to become unplugged. To access the sensor, take off your drivers side front wheel and look near the bottom of the suspension. The sensor bridges the lower control arm to the body and looks like this: If it is damaged or the wires have frayed, you can order a new one here:

Indoor growers are limited by electrical capacity. The amount of HID lights they can run is limited due to sharing the service panel with the buildings other electrical devices. In addition, lights are typically only used for 12 hours a day. In order to utilize the other 12 hours of the day, previously required extra ballasts and power circuits.

I have a question about the wiring of a relay harness to my hid kit. I am fimiliar with connecting a relay harness to a single bulb hid kit, however I bought after-market headlight housings and I now have seperate high and low bulbs for both the drivers side and passengers side. I have 2 hid kits. One kit for the highs and another for the lows 4 ballasts all together. I know with a single bulb setup the relay connects into 1 of my factory wiring harnesses and goes to either the high or low beam HIDs whichever you have the HID kit for on both sides.

But I have 2 ballasts on each side and all the HID relay harnesses I have seen only have 1 ballast connection per side of the vehicle. My question is how would I go about hooking up a relay for this setup? I was thinking maybe buy 2 relay harnesses and run one to my high ballasts and the other to my low ballasts and then splice the 2 harnesses into the drivers side Factory Headlight Harness. Does any one know if this will work or am i just wasting money and time? Will this cause my highs and lows to get crossed up or anything since I am splicing the 2 into the factory harness?

Or if anyone knows a better solution if there is one I would greatly appreciate it.

Posted 27 November – Pancake fans are extremely minimal current draw. Normal headlight bulbs are watts. X2 is a minimal of 16watts less than a stock setup.

Ballast wiring can be a bit tricky, but it’s not really that difficult to do, if you pay attention. Make sure to test all the components of your florescent light, before you hook up the new ballast. Ballast can be quite expensive, so you want to be certain that it really is the source of the.

Yes, dealerships carry used bikes – some have just a few sitting in a corner, while others sell more used than new. It’s easy to make newbie mistakes and drop the bike – I once parked my bike, walked away, and then realized I’d left the sidestand up when it fell over.

It’s better to get the mistakes out of your system on a bike that’s not so shiny and new.

I’m selling my civic click the link in my sig below for info ;. I’m taking out my H3 HID kit from it and transfering it over to my G35 which I’ll be buying in aprox 12 hours from now. Could I ghetto rig an H3 bulb to work in the H4 housing so that the light spread isnt crazy and out of wack. My concern is that the H3 is a shorter bulb, so I’m going to have to customize the housing to allow the H3 bulb to sit deeper in.

Also the H4 bulb has a little cap that hovers over the filament What are your thoughts ; BTW, if anyone is interested, or know anyone that wants to buy my car I can think of how this could work off the top of my head, though if I come up with anything I’ll let you know. The H3 is shorter, has a different base, uses the metal base as a ground Also, without the cap, the light will likely reflect differently and all wrong.

You may want to consider custom making a cap, and how knows if it will work. I also noticed you where thinking of getting Projecotrs retro’d in. I’d figureout if you are doing that before attempting any massive customization like above.

A lighting relay harness is most commonly used in aftermarket HID conversion kits to bypass the factory wiring in order to get around complicated electronic control systems or to allow a higher rate of current to be delivered to the bulbs. A Relay Wiring Harness utilizes a 30amp fuse protected power wire that directly connects to your positive terminal on the battery. An Automotive Relay is used to pull signal from a source Headlight connector that triggers power to be drawn from the battery.

There are two sets of cables meant to provide power to an HID ballast. There are also two separate ground wire terminals that need to be connected to the chassis to complete the electrical circuit.
